The Colour of Magic - Terry Pratchett.

Author: Terry Pratchett .
Title: The Colour of Magic.
Publisher: Plaza y Janes .
Year:
1989.
Rating: 8.5 / 10.

When turning the book to see the author's biography and the first thing you read is "Terry Pratchett was born in 1958 and still not dead", you understand that you're facing a different book.

The story is set in the fantasy world of Discworld, where Twoflower, the Discworld's first tourist, arrives in the city of Ankh-Morpork. There he meets Rincewind, a wizard useless and cowardly, which should make a guide. Begin to live a long series of adventures with characters as diverse as a trunk with legs, the guild of murderers, an old warrior, dragons or death itself.

certainly the first reason that led me to read was the fact that it was a story that parodies the classic elements of the genre of epic fantasy and science fiction from authors like Tolkien Lovecraft. And in that sense the book achieves more than it's fun and surreal with a great sense of humor, often unexpected.

But that is not the only attraction of the book. Pratchett creates his own fantasy world with a language and imagery of its own, making loop the loop in an original and interesting. There is a spirit of parody, but it is also true that the author often takes pride in a beautiful prose, and great and exciting passages. It is also an interesting story behind which is what you really become hooked.

" The Colour of Magic " thus becomes a reading fun and different, whether or not you are a fan of the genre. Not surprisingly, Terry Pratchett is the second best-selling writer in the UK after the author of "Harry Potter."

best: the way in which the author twists the topics of science fiction.
Worst: that once you read the first book, I expect a collection of more than 20, and still continues to publish.
